Vision Fund & Church Starting Fund
Associational Messengers authorized the re-establishment of the Vision Fund. Individual donors have been enlisted to donate on a monthly basis. Until the creation of the Grace Baptist Church where the First Baptist Church of Greenacres and The Sure Foundation Baptist Church came together to create a new church, the Vision Fund was supporting the Sure Foundation Baptist Church with their monthly mortgage on their new land. The fund will support new churches started by the Association and partner churches with payment assistance. Each participating church will donate 2 percent of their undesignated gifts back into the fund. Our goal is to keep the fund alive and growing by creating a repeatable method of supporting our new works.
You are invited to participate in this exciting fund raising effort. You can either send your gift directly to the Association or through your local church.
Due to a dramatic loss in budget income in 2009 the Administrative Committee and Messengers at the 2009 Annual Meeting voted to use some monies from the Vision Fund to help maintain Associational operations. It is the intention of the Committee to repay the Vision Fund whatever monies are used as finances pick up.
Church Planting Fund
Thanks to the generosity of Pastor Larry Weather and the members at Faith Avenue Baptist Church, the Kern County SB Association now has a Church Planting Fund to use for start up funds and church planter salary support. The Church voted to disband and place their properties into the hands of the Association. The land and buildings were sold to the Solid Rock Baptist Church at fifty percent of its market value. The money was placed in this special church planting fund. For the first time in recent history we have funds to use both for land acquisition (Vision Fund) and Church Planting (Church Planting Fund). What a blessing. We are currently supporting Omega Community Church with Sam Thomas and Lighthouse Baptist Church with Mark Moore. We are supporting a new work in the Castic area with a one time gift of $2400 in partnership with the San Fernando Valley Baptist Association.
